LUSC FISHING CLUB

Gidday punters. How was your weekend? Mine, well, caught a few fish, drank a couple of beers and watched my footy team lose the game in the second half, after leading at half time - just a normal comp weekend.

It was refreshing to see "Team Hayes", Bert and Peter out on the water fishing on the weekend with Bert catching his first ever bluefin tuna which weighed 9kg, great effort mate.

To the report, men's estuary winner was Gary Edwards. Men's vets estuary winner was Peter Pritchard narrowly over Mal Isaac. Ladies vets estuary winner was Kay Isaac. Men's vets beach and rock was won by Bob Clarke. Men's beach and rock was won by Mick Minarsky with some great tailor, runner up was Gary Edwards. Men's vets deep sea was a tied event with both Kiwi O'Neil and Ken Whyte winning with Ken Cowell runner up. Ladies vets deep sea winner was Marg Sheridan. Men's deep sea winner was yours truly, Col Trenaman with Bert Hayes runner up.

Our next club comp is on 17th and 18th May with weigh in at 1pm Sunday at the rear of the club. Just a reminder that the secret weight has climbed to the dizzy heights of $75, but you must weigh a fish to be in the running. Until next month, happy hunting.

There were 2x3 game winners - Bill Hyde and Joy Lees and Eleanora Smith and Betty Bradley, Bill and Joy won the first place vouchers and Ellie and Betty the second place ones. We will all have to improve our game and try very hard to beat Bill. It will happen one day.

A great welcome back to Mavis who returned this week. Hope all our bowlers who are not feeling the best return to good health and we will see them soon.

The trip to South West Rocks for a two man Ambrose ended up with a full bus. Whilst the golf and food went down well the boys were not too keen on the walk. Winners on the day were Dave, George and John. This was contested by the man with many jobs and partner. Thanks to Snail for the refreshments and Mick for the organising.

Yesterday was a four man Ambrose with only one team turning up. I won’t mention their names as they are sure to cop a pay for having webbed feet. Next week will be a single Stableford with late pick for partners.

Till then - keep swining (Golf).

Dave.

Kendall Social Golf Club

Seventeen brave souls boarded the bus on Sunday morning for our trip to South West Rocks, unfortunately the course was closed but after Whizza made some phone calls we were able to get a game at Frederickton. Conditions were good considering the rain that we have had and the course held up well. The girls were the winners for the day was it ever in question? Longest Drive went to our bus driver President Phil. Everyone had a great day and we all thank Phil for driving the bus we know what a sacrifice it was for you.

Our next social golf game at Royal Kew will be Sunday May 4, with a 6.30am tee off followed by the usual BBQ. Just a reminder that if you haven’t paid for your membership and shirts could you please do so.

LUSC Snooker

Last Tuesday Major Final saw Glen Kunze show Gunther Otto how to play position for the next shot and made a break of 63, but an in-off the pink brought this break back to 57. Still a good break but a disappointed Glen reckons there were a lot more points to be scored. The GO has played Glen many times at Gosford Leagues Club and tells some wild stories about their encounters. Minor Final - meanwhile back in the real world “Old Smoothie” played a top game against “The Beaver” but it was all Brian Lenard and these two now lead the Tuesday night points score and are locked together. “The Beaver” was using passing member “Merv Parkers” cue he then looked up and told Merv (I’ll look after your cue and will not throw it on the floor if I lose “Good Bye old mate.”

Thursday Major Final Newcastle boy “Warren Rabbit” was in a better mood when he played “I am a little bit country” Kevin Jarrett who plays up or down snooker. This time it was down. Minor Final it’s “Speedway” Col Bloomfield in a thriller “Old Smoothie” joins the Beaver in second place (Thursday night points score) “The Kunze” leads.

The team to play North Haven Bowling Club (Cookies gang) as there were only three members intersted the whole day has now been postponed. “Batman is this what they call a stalemate? no Robin it’s Redfern and this is where we jump off.”

We play Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm start.
