CH Redbacks

Junior Soccer

8yrs Widders Consultancy v Port Saints Lions

In cold blustery conditions the boys took it to Port Saints Lions with what proved to be a one sided goal scoring game. Good passing by Michael to his teammates resulted in good soccer and goals. Jack and Jeb combined well again and again to increase the score. All the team played well together with good passing and back up. Keep it up for next week, see you at training. Goals to Tyron, Michael, Jeb and Jack. Player of the game went to Harrison. Special thanks go to Jack Coram who helped out in goals and on the field as we were one teammate down.

U/10 Ray White R/E V Panthers Roofshield 14/6/08

We were in Port for the early, chilly start. Certain stages saw some great teamwork. Try not to do too much individual work as you all play better when your teammates are there backing you up. We are slowly getting the idea of the off side rule but this has been a good learning process as it is still only our first season on the big field. The highlight of the game was keeping the other team scoreless for the 6-0 win. Well done to our attackers in goal scoring- Isaac 1, Ben S 1, Toby 2 and Tayne 2. Aaron, Ben M, Riley and David done a top job defending by not letting Port score. While our mid-fielders of Nathan, Sam, Beth and Lachlan provided the link between both. Well Done Reds!

LUSC YD1 v

Port United

Maintained our unbeaten run even though it was a nil all draw against the second placed United side, we had the better of the chances but failed to put any away. Numbers at training are getting poor, this may be contributing to a slight form slump. Its up to you guys to get it back on track. Away again next week at Findlay 7.20 kick off. See you at training everyone.

Weigh-in results. Due to filthy weather conditions and high seas, the catch was smaller than usua. Five species including Trevor’s near kilo blackfish. Porky won estuary, Dave won Beach & Rock. No ocean results with Paul taking out the $25 voucher from North Haven Bait & Tackle. Just a reminder club dues are due! A very good time for individuals and families to join up and enjoy another aspect of the beautiful Camden Haven.

NHBC Anglers

Our June comp was held last weekend 14 & 15. What can one say, that it was one real “Al Pacino-dog day of a weekend” - typical comp conditions of late. Never the less, at least we can “whinge,” so it must be good. Anyway, we had a much better roll-up of our members and visitors attend than expected which was fantastic to see - thank you one and all. Now on to the “nitty gritty.” There were 11 anglers who presented seven species of 43 fish to weighmaster Geoff Boese and Recorder Dick Spencer. Naturally, “nutting” from out on the “suicidal” wild blue yonder. From the rocks, 3 bream and 1 each of blue groper, drummer and tailor. Estuary, 23 luderick, 11 bream, 2 dusky flathead and 1 whiting from the rocks, Mick Murray did well with his 2 bream at .525kg and .645kg, 1 each of drummer at 1.205kg and tailor at .500kg, top show Mick. Paul Whitton also with 1 each of blue groper at 1kg and bream at .545kg. From the estuary, Geoff Boese with 4 species of 3 bream to .500kg, 2 luderick to .500kg, 1 each of dusky at .580kg and whiting. Trevor Lewis, Bob Haynes and the “sparkling” Des Sparkes all with 5 luderick each - TL to .740kg, BM to .550kg and DS to .500kg. Tony Morrissey in with 5 bream to 515kg. Dick Spencer with 3 bream all around same to .535kg. The juniors saw, once again, Des (DJ) Sparkes “out sparkled” Pop, Des, with 5 nice luderick all around same to .880kg - top effort DJ. Also Troy Boese with a dusky at .500kg. Heartiest congrats to all who partook in this comp - for all in attendance at the weigh-in and for your support. Very much appreciated. Secret weight not won and jackpots. 2x$20 lucky anglers won by Bob Haynes and Paul Whitton. $15 voucher won by Fletcher Muray for a junior attending and sponsored by North Haven Bait & Tackle, thank you Kim and Darrell. Special mention to all members, our July comp to be held on the 12 & 13th, weigh-in will be 12noon - free BBQ and refreshments followed by our AGM. Election of office bearers and presentations will be held. All members have to be financial to weigh-in etc. New members are welcome to join and attend. You can join at any time - see Trevor Lewis Assistant Manager North Haven Bowling Club during office hours to 5.30pm or on the Sunday at the weigh-in. Committee meeting will be 6pm Tuesday July 8, at the Bowling Club. All welcome and see you all there. In the meantime - “fine piscatorialing.”

LUSC Snooker

The return of Peter Mayne has certainly stirred the big guns and if Peter’s health holds up he will cause havoc in the highly sponsored yearly points score which was started by none other than Graham Palmer (there were no prizes those days). The little chap with shorts and braces re-introduced a sponsored points score in the late 90s “dash for cash.” Beechers Meats $25 next year it was $50 “Two Balls” then said “If the prizes escalated too high then the whole thing would turn around and bite its tail.” We thank our major sponsor “LUSC” also “Wiggly Tail Meats” “Legends Cafe and Fuel Kew” “Armstrong Oysters” we love your support.

Tuesday Major Final “Peter Mayne” fires up and its just great to sit there and watch him perform “Back Packer” tries to bait him up but its Mayne all the way. Minor Final “The Kunze” goes fishing (sort of) “plenty of burley is the go” some to the left some to the right “Big Mac” takes the bait and leaves the cheese burger. Thursday night major final the Beaver keeps his cool. Peter Mayne keeps his dummy (ah we don’t need all these “accessories”) Minor Final Greg Thomson wraps his hand around a nineteen ounce short cue “look at him go,” this thing can destroy my handicap “slow up” Charlie (extra leg) Angel “still has it.”

A strong team is needed for July 20, Laurieton vs North Haven. Colin Cooke is well known and top players will appear from everywhere for him. (GO has been seen in the area). Two snooker clubs in the same town “can only promote our game more.”

Will the AGM bring out the good side from good people. Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm.

Two Balls.

LUSC Mens Social Golf

Twelve brave souls ventured out Sunday morning for a 2 man Ambrose. A couple of new members welcome fella’s. Dunny and his new partner Phil prevailed on the day (I think Ruddo’s on the way out). NAGA was hotly contested but Riddo and Rossy won out (sorry boys but 23 is as high as you can go). NTPs were few because of the conditions. Keep August 3, free for Bato’s Charity Day. A great day and a great cause. See you all Sunday for mystery event.
